THE WOUNDING OF HEALTH CARE: From Fragmentation to Integration
By Dr Catherine J. Fyans
This month we are speaking to the amazing Dr Catherine Fyans, who worked as a medical practitioner for many years, and as an βintegrativeβ general practitioner for most of that time. She has now retired from medical practice. She has also trained in other health care disciplines, including kinesiology, and a form of trauma therapy (TRTP - The Richards Trauma process).
Dr Catherine, who has a long-standing interest in βmind-bodyβ medicine, or what she prefers to call βconscious health, has written her book The Wounding of Health Care, that provides an overview of our current health care system and questions some of beliefs and dogmas that we have so bought in to.
She says βWe have reached a time when it is no longer adequate to have a solely physical explanation for illness. It is time to look beyond the 'fix it' model of health care and become empowered in managing your own health and well being.β And one of the quotes in her book is still as relevant today as it was when it was made.
βWe have reached a time when it is no longer adequate to have a solely physical explanation for illness. It is time to look beyond the 'fix it' model of health care and become empowered in managing your own health and well being. W. Somerset Maugham (1874-1965, British Novelist)
The interview with Dr Catherine on her book will be made shortly available on our vimeo, and rumble channels.
